The Stars Align For The Continuation of The 2012 Blog Award
By – Sheri de Grom

On January 11, 2013, two of my favorite blogging friends awarded me with the final two stars I needed for my 2012 Blog Award. Thank you Mae Clair and Jane Sadek.

Mae is one of my earliest blogging friends and she also has me looking for fairies under mushrooms in my wildflower garden (during the summer months of course). With the introduction of her debut novel, Weathering Rock I logged another first. Who would have thought I’d be reading about a time-traveling werewolf falling in love with an outspoken teacher in the 21st century with an ancient curse mixed in. Yes, I’m anxiously waiting for the sequel.

I met Jane by way of cruising someone else’s list of awards. (I’ve discovered checking out the links on award nomination blogs is one of the best ways to meet new bloggers who share my interests.) Jane writes about travel and her fantastic photos are a great way to revisit some of our favorite haunts. Her other descriptions of other locations I haven’t yet been and are so complete I immediately knew I’d mark the destination for further exploration or not.

I’m sure you’re familiar with the rules of receiving the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award. However, rules are rules, so here we go:

1.] Select the blog(s) you think deserve the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award.

2.] Write a blog post and tell us about the blog(s) you have chosen—there’s no minimum or maximum number of blogs required—and present them with their award.

3.] Please include a link back to this page ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award: – and include these ‘rules’ in your post. Please don’t alter the rules or the badges!

4] Let the blog(s) you have chosen know that you have given them this award and share the ‘rules’ with them.

5.] You can now also join our Facebook page – click the link here ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award Facebook page – and then you can share your blog with an even wider audience.

6.] As a winner of the award – please add a link back to the blog that presented you with the award—and then proudly display the award on your blog and sidebar . . . and start collecting stars.

Unlike other awards which you can only add to your blog once—this award is different.

When you begin, you receive the ‘1 star’ award. Every time you are given the award by another blog you can add another star! There are a total of 6 stars to collect.

Which means that you can check out your favorite blogs—and even if they have already been given the award by someone else—you can still bestow it on them again and help them to reach the maximum 6 stars!

Here are my nominations for the ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award:

thoughtsfromanamericanwoman – I just traveled to Patty’s blog and noticed she has 5 of the 6 stars. It gives me great pleasure to pass along a star to her. Patty awarded me with my first star in 2012. Let’s call this a Valentine star, Patty. Don’t miss out on following Patty’s blog. We’ve become friends through our trust in God, sharing of all things military, travel, and living life to the fullest.

Iamforchange – I previously noted Joe also has 5 of the 6 stars on his ‘Blog of the Year 2012’ Award. I only recently discovered Joe’s blog but it’s one of the most powerful blogs I read. One evening I was roaming around looking for informative blogs to read and I hit upon a sensitive, but timely discussion of how we are treating our environment. Then, just last night I read Joe’s post on the subject of protecting girls and women from abuse. It is indeed a post not to be missed. Read it and please share the content. He believes in involving the global community and I agree. That’s how advocacy works.

allfallback – Vincent presents information simply but in the most eloquent way. His words have the ability to make our national debt sound like a good thing. His is a blog without limitations.

Volunteerfringe – Shares volunteer experiences and situations at home and abroad – a modern-day good Samaritan.

Referring to my original blog of Dec. 28. 2012, you may read it here, I’m listing individuals I passed ‘the stars’ on to in that blog. If you need another star to fill out your Blog of the Year Award for 2012 – please accept it here:

Thank you Mae and Jane for the two additional stars. I’m honored that you each thought of me.

Thanks for your kind words about my blog. I’ll pass your kudos on the photographs to my husband, the guy who takes most of the pictures. And thank you for the cup of coffee a few days ago, too. I’ll be sipping on that over at my blog in a couple of weeks.
