Liebster Award
Today I found out that Patricia Yager Delagrange nominated me for the Liebster Award. Thank you, Patti. I’m honored to be one of your recipients. You can read her July 22, 2012 post here:
http://www.patriciayagerdelagrange.com
The rules for the Liebster Award are:
1. Link back to the person who gave it to you and thank them.
2. Post the award to your blog.
3. Give the award to 5 bloggers with less than 200 followers that you appreciate and value.
4. Leave a comment on the 5 blogs to let them know that they have received this award.
And my nominees are:
1. Mae Clair: http://maeclair.net/
Mae is a master of social media and I’m truly amazed with all she’s conquered in the time we’ve been following each other. My all time favorite each week is her Six Sentence Sunday. I’m a reader primarily of women’s fiction and Mae writes tales of myth & mystery and then wraps it in romantic suspense. Her debut novel premiers Oct. 8 from Lyrical Press and her talent with six sentence Sunday, I’ll be buying a copy of her book, Weathering Rock, come release day.
2. Nic H. Vidocq: http://www.defrostingcoldcases.com
Nic’s blog is an absolute necessity for any one wanting to know the truth about crime/cold cases/forensics/preserving evidence/and most importantly how investigative work is accomplished and not as television and many books (some non-fiction) would have us believe.
You may sign on to receive notice when a new item has been posted. I find something new to read each day. I had difficulty finding the location to receive automatic notices but I was determined to find my way. Nic’s blog is beautiful and my monitor is large–but I still had to scroll far to the left to find the buttons he kept telling me about. Don’t miss out. Click on the buttons. Nic’s guest blogs are from respected experts in their individual fields and always informative. What little free time Nic has, you might find him on a park bench thinking about the novel he’s writing or at his favorite coffee shop—writing the thoughts into scenes for the characters developed while enjoying the park bench.
3. David N. Walker: http://davidnwalker.com
David’s blog is wonderful to roll into on an especially restful day. It’s also a blessing to have at my disposal when the going gets tough. I know I’ll be treated gently. Even his grammar lessons grace my soul. David is a born storyteller. It doesn’t matter: it can be his accounts of days gone by or of present day, each are filled with hope and inspiration. Watch for David Walker’s book of devotionals titled, Heaven Sent, coming soon.
4. Charlie Fox a.k.a. defensegirl: http://themodstolemyboyfriend.wordpress.com
Defense girl speaks open and honest about how it is to be married to a career soldier. She is proud of the man she loves but she doesn’t slow dance around the empty space he leaves behind when he goes away on yet another deployment. Like defense girl, as a military wife, I didn’t want to belong to what I called the diaper and recipes brigade, and I didn’t. I had a career that I loved and refused to give up. That doesn’t make defense girl any less of a woman or a good wife to the soldier that happens to be her husband, the same as I carried the love in my heart for my own soldier. I very recently stumbled onto this site thanks to my friend, Nic Vicocq, listed above. The writing is beautiful – there’s not a bit of ‘telling’ – it’s raw emotion worn on the sleeve, the same as patches are worn on the military uniform –the uniform that’s on the sleeves of her husband as he goes into combat.
5. Joe Giacalone: http://www.coldcasesquad.com
My current WIP has a prominent character that goes missing. He’s missing for a very long time. I needed Joe when I was working on the original draft to help my main character. She was truly having a hard time. She knew all about white-collar crime, but nothing much about searching for someone who had disappeared into thin air. Joe Giacalone is your man. He also has a guest blog on the Cold Case blog mentioned above, but I wanted to mention him here as well. I was afraid you would miss him and the important information he has to share.
Thank you Mae, Nic, David, Charlie and Joe for writing blogs that keep me informed and entertained equally. You are each a gift to the world of blog readers and seekers of information.

I would like to thank Patricia Yager Delagrange for awarding my wife Sheri the Liebster Award. I never realized the amount of work that goes into writing a book until I stopped seeing Sheri around the house….time after time, I found her in her office at 11AM and 6PM and even 3AM. Now that she has her blog and twitter and triber(whatever that is), I don’t have to wonder where she is. Her Office! She worked at least an 80 hour week when she was in Federal service and she gives even more time to insure that her book and Blogging are up to her usual high standards. As to her choices for the Liebster Award, I have heard nothing but praise and stories about all of you, including the bench and the coffee shop.
What a delight to have my wonderful husband as my first commenter on a Monday morning. Thanks sweetheart. It’s heaven having you down the hall from me, knowing you are at your jeweler’s bench working away. Thank you for your words but most of all – as we enter the afternoon of our lives together, our memories become sweeter and sweeter.
Sheri, I hopped on to thank you for the nomination and the wonderful things you said about me and my blog (you’re wonderful!) and then I saw Tom’s delightful post about you, and your response to him. There is such beautiful love there! It makes me feel truly blessed to have ‘met’ you. Thank you for the award and your kind words. The other blogs you mentioned all sound fantastic and I plan to check them out. I’ll be posting my own nominations for the Liebster Award later this week. Happy Monday to you and Tom!
Hi, Mae – You are such an inspiration to me – all the social media you’ve learned and how savvy you are in promoting Weathering Rock, release date Oct. 8. Thanks so much in mentioning Tom’s post. That was a complete surprise for me when I opened my computer this a.m. Talk about total instant happiness. You are indeed a true cypher space friend – always willing to lend a helping hand. And, I so love your six-sentence-Sunday.
Wow, this is lovely! Sheri, I can’t believe how many great things I’ve discovered through your blog — the idea that there are networks of low-membership, high-quality bloggers spreading the word about superior work is both charming and heartening.
I’m with Tom in thinking your award is well-deserved, and now you’ve got me wanting to go check all those other blogs as well…including the other ones Paty named. Congratulations!
Laurie – That’s the very idea of the Liebster Award – to get the word out about terrific blogs that others may otherwise miss. There’s so much good information out there – and with this hectic world we all live in, I haven’t found a systematic way to go about reading every blog I want. See you in class soon:)
Hi Sheri!
First of all, I must thank you for being so supportive and encouraging to new writers. For those not connected with me on Twitter, Sheri has encouraged me to write that first book of fiction and to do it my way. She responds to questions and gives tips to those who seek help writing.
Second, I thank you for the award. “Defrosting Cold Cases” is not an easy blog to have or to write for due to its topic and the victims involved. It is therefore so very much appreciated to read your appreciation.
Charlie Fox and Joe Giacalone are dear friends and I am thrilled to be in their company for the award. Needless to say, I will check to other blogs!
Thank you, Sheri and I’ll see you later on Twitter!
Best, Nic H. Vidocq
Hi Nic – Although I come from twenty years of investigating white collar crime, your blog is a necessity for me when I want to know something specific regarding the ‘down and dirty’ of the business you are in. You and your band of experts are indeed a wealth of information.
*blushes from ear to ear*
I will post it on my blog and respond with my five nominees as soon as possible!
Nic – I can’t imagine not reading your blogs. They are indeed an ever evolving source of learning. I’m also never disappointed by your guest bloggers and come away with knowledge gained each time I read with you. Your work is indeed difficult to put forward and we all appreciate that which you share with us on a regular basis.
Thanks, Sheri. I appreciate the kind words.
Thanks Sheri for the award!
I appreciate the kind comments and hope to continue to deliver in the future. I will display the award proudly on my site. I see that I am in very good company with the other receivers of the award.
Thanks again,
Joe
Joe – Your blog is more than worthy of the Liebster Award. It’s not easy writing about crime – especially cold cases and missing people – but you have a way of stringing your sentences to together that makes it easy for writers everywhere to understand. Additionally, you are a valuable asset for advocates everywhere.
